"I love that song "My Own Man", It's my favorite!"
Singin' the Blues (My Own Man 2008)
Singin' the Blues came about after a concert by my friends Samuel Seth Bernard, and May Erlewine at Short's in Bellaire. It was a great night for me with the exceptional music, but more to the point, the fact that I'm surrounded by such wonderfully creative artists. More then that, it compelled me to think about where I fit in to all of this creativity. In the last couple years, I've been virtually thrust into the Blues genre, something I never really tried to do on my own, but have, by course of events, become recognized for that portion of my work. My Folk and Rock songs, though pleasing, have not drawn the attention that the blues songs have. The Song pretty much tells the rest.

My friends all write stories & wrap them in a song,
And sing them out to please you all from sundown clear to dawn.
Ya, they got the way of sayin’ things to make you understand,
There's a whole lot to be said about a woman and a man.
But what I got to tell you shouldn't be surprising news,
Seems like all I got to sing about's the Blues!.
They sing so sweetly, brings tears to your eyes,
'Bout how the Sun keeps shining, & clear, blue, blue, blue skies.
They make you want to sing and shout to the Lord above,
About how wonderful it feels to be so deep in love,
But what I got to tell you shouldn't be surprising news,
Seems like all I got to sing about's the Blues!
Well baby you been sitting there for such a long long time,
Smiling and a laughing and sipping on your wine,
But who is it you're smiling for? It surely isn't me,
Cause ever time you look this way I'm not the one you see!
Well I can sit & listen to Seth & Daisy May.
Their songs are so uplifting in oh so many ways.
And man gotta tell you, I really love their style,
I love the way they turn a phrase, it makes it all worthwhile.
But what I gotta tell you shouldn't be surprising news,
Seems like all I got to sing about's, the Blues!
